Ribbed Babe

Ah, suns out. Wait it’s still freezing… what the heck? Oh yeah, that’s spring time for ya in Auckland, unfortunately. However, with season change that means the swimmers are making an appearance as well as summer fashion. EEP!! It’s been a good while since I have had some vitamin D and my anticipation is at a high right now. These swimmers are testing me mate.

Anywho, let’s chat about what’s really important. Swimmers!! If you’re like me, petite with a bit more bust and bum, it’s quite hard to find a swimsuit that fits you properly. So if I ever stumble upon one, no matter the season, I snatch that puppy hot and quick. It’s basically finding a diamond in the rough. I found this adorable one piece from that new fav store I mentioned before, Glassons. They have a great swim line right now and not to mention the pieces are affordable as.

This piece is actually versatile surprisingly, but you know me and versatility. It makes me weak in the knees. I already had in mind to wear this even if I’m not submerging myself in the ocean because it’s that adorable. I’m a sucker for ribbed fabric and low backs. There’s something about a low back that is sexy with a touch of innocence.

We also cannot forget, that being at the ocean and the sun beaming out, sunnies are a must. I am also a sucker for sunnies. Designer, to cheap fun shades, I am all about that suns life.

I purchased both of these from a store here in Auckland. They were both 29$ and exactly what I’ve been looking for. I used to drool over those massive bug eye sunnies but now I am on the trendy train with circular and or shades that pop right half way on the bridge of your nose. Something very chic and mysterious about seeing the tops of your eyelids but not your full eye. Ugh.

FUN FACT: If you struggle with height, wearing a high cut one piece provides more extension to the legs, thus you are instantly taller. Also, purchasing patterns that go horizontally to provide more length in the torso which is flattering with a high cut hip.

Own It

No, I do not have broken arms and yes, my shirt is on backwards but that’s fashion right? Weird stuff, HA. HA. A few years ago, I stumbled upon a photo on Tumblr and became very inspired to try this look! However, I cannot show you the original photo since I never was able to find it ever again… but anyway.

Sometimes, it feels goofy wearing this specific style blouse, and you get those “what the heck looks” but own girl, OWN IT.

This look is so chic!! It’s fun because it’s not your typical blouse, so it spices up that full button up blouse you only know how to wear one-way. Adding a bold necklace can also add heaps of creativity to this whole “new-way” outfit.

You’re welcome, in a “Sadie Saxton voice”!!

Spring Essentials (lazy look)

Spring has almost sprung, but preparation is key so that’s why I am here to help you prepare for the upcoming season!

When the hot weather is blazin’ the last thing I want is to wear a full face of make up and use hot tools. I like the beachy textured hair look with a fresh looking natural face. However, some days my skin can look a little discolored so I usually apply some BB cream that sunscreen added to be on the safer side. On the days I don’t apply any make up, I obviously want my skin to be as spotless as possible, despite having good genes I do have those nasty craters here and there which makes them more noticeable. Using this mud mask twice a week is golden. It really keeps my skin clean and removes any upcoming breakouts. (from what I’ve experienced) To tie together the all natural look, having textured beachy hair is key. It’s effortlessly beautiful and perfect for spring/summer.

When it comes to sunshine I try to always have my essentials with me at all times, wether that be in my car or I’m wearing them. Hat’s can add a sporty-chic look, depending on the type of hat. Specifically speaking about the trucker hat that can add a tom-boy chic look which is adorable. Sunnies to protect your eyes or they can be a statement piece if you have a simple look going on. Last but not least a fun colored statement clutch. This clutch can be a purse, but lately I’ve been loving the clutch look.

Patterns, textures, detail It’s never a bad thing to have an over abundant amount of detail especially during the spring/summer time. A patterned dress is always a MUST-HAVE during this floral season. Mix-matching patterns can provide a versatile outfit, so you never get multiple use out of your clothes which is always a GREAT thing. I tend to get cold a lot and by a lot I mean all the time. I’m a jacket girl, so jackets are key for me to have at all times. Texture can change your whole outfit, why not add an oversized jacket to be that key essential. When it comes to bottoms, the baggier the more comfortable. Boyfriend jeans are a perfect this spring to go with your beachy wave natural look. Staple shoes are also a must this season to add flare to any outfit. However, if your feet get tired and need to breathe, having a pair of leather sandals are perfect for the laid back vibe.
